6 months, 3 weeks ago Up Original Issue: Service to select Moodlerooms sites was unavailable. The service interruption began intermittently on Wednesday May 24th at approximately 6:50 AM, occurring very rarely and gradually increasing with increased site traffic. The issue was resolved at 9:40 AM ET. Root Cause: A networking misconfiguration caused some SSL traffic to be routed to a web server that wasn't configured to serve encrypted traffic. The web server attempted to redirect the request back to a valid web server, but in some cases the request was redirected back to the same faulty web server, resulting in a redirection loop. Load balancing caused the redirection loop to occur more frequently as end user traffic increased. Upon further analysis, it was determined this event only impacted sites that utilize HTTPS encryption. With this new information it was identified that your site was not impacted by this event.

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 31st, 2017 at 1:30 AM EST (UTC/GMT -4) to 2:00AM EST (UTC/GMT -4). Maintenance Update: Blackboard will be performing scheduled Database Maintenance on: Wednesday, May 31st, 2017 at 1:30 AM EST (UTC/GMT -4) to 2:00 AM EST (UTC/GMT -4) We are notifying our Moodlerooms clients in the event you experience brief connectivity issues during this maintenance window During this maintenance window, we will be performing logging updates on the MySQL servers and therefore you may see a brief loss of connectivity while the database services are restarted. This will affect both the sandbox and production instances. Affected Clients: We will be performing this database maintenance at our VA2 (Virginia) hosted datacenter.
7 months, 1 week ago Up Moodle.org has recently released version 3.1.6 of the Moodle LMS. This version includes several fixes to security vulnerabilities in the current Moodle core versions used in Moodlerooms 3.1 Maintenance Pack 2. Blackboard will deploy these fixes to your site on Monday, May 15th. Details of the security fixes are not made publicly available until one week after their official release to give Moodle Partners and site administrators ample time to enact the required changes prior to general publication. The patches that were applied include only the related security fixes, and did not include a full upgrade to the latest version of Moodle core. This is intended to minimize the impact of changes made to the system while still ensuring the overall integrity and health of your site and the system. The update will not cause service interruption(s) for any sites. Information about full core version upgrades will be communicated shortly in the Moodle 3.1.6 release notes provided on Moodle.org. Again, please note that the update included security patches only and was not a full upgrade of Moodle.

1 year, 4 months ago Info MoodleroomsThe Moodlerooms Technical Operations team experienced an unanticipated issue with the process that is responsible for kicking off site upgrades. The issue caused the process to periodically halt, and required a manual restart. As a result, site upgrades continued beyond the duration of the expected MP1 window for multiple production instances. This issue did not impact the Moodle upgrade process itself. Daily database backups were temporarily halted to reduce any additional load on the database server in an effort to speed up the upgrade process. They will be available at a later time today.

Our datacenters in Northern Virginia have redundant power distribution infrastructure and also have backup generators and battery systems. Datacenter facility staff have completed their physical inspection of the buildings and infrastructure. The Blackboard Hosting team is taking extra precautions to ensure continuity of service by having additional staff physically available at each of our datacenter facilities in Northern Virginia, as well as engaging our international resources in case of power loss at our offices. We will provide additional updates if needed on the status page.

We apologize for informing you of this change with short notice but the Datacenter Provider is delaying the break fix operation to further minimize the chance of a service interruption.
